Artisans then hand-dip or hand-apply layers of Italian dye to create identical or contrasting colors before using Italian creams and waxes for a bright, lustrous finish. The patina process is also used for the soles, heels and edges of shoes as well as other leather goods including bags, belts, wallets, and cases for business cards, laptops and iPhones.
