4 proven ways of making money while you travel through Vietnam

Vietnam is one of the most beautiful countries in all of Southeast Asia and one of the most welcoming with tourists. However, not many people in Europe or America have ventured into this amazing place. And one of the biggest reasons for that is the long distance that one needs to travel to get there.

A lot of people find it hard to justify the long travelling hours (and the cost of plane tickets!) for a week – long trip. In order to truly appreciate the beauty of Vietnam and enjoy its natural and man made wonders, you need to stay there for a while. However, unless you come from a wealthy family, that means you have to create some sort of income stream while you’re there.

In order to make sure you get your fill of fresh air, sunshine and relaxation during your next extended trip to Vietnam, why not try and pick up a few side hustles along the way? Whether you want to work abroad or simply supplement your travels with some paid time off, there are lots of opportunities out there for earning a bit of extra cash – and we’re going to take a look at four of our favourites.

1- Find work or volunteer in hotels and hostels

If you’re looking for ways to earn extra cash when traveling, working at a hotel or hostels may be an option worth considering. Of course, if you don’t want to go through the hassle of applying for a work visa in Vietnam, you can always volunteer in exchange for free meals and accomodation.

In general, jobs at hotels and hostels involve working in reception, cleaning rooms, and picking up guests from airports. You can also expect to cook there sometimes if you’re up for it, besides other similar tasks.

There are plenty of job listings for hostels online. In addition, this position has lots of social opportunities for meeting people from different cultures and backgrounds.

2- Teach English as a foreign language

One of the most common ways to travel and earn money abroad is through teaching English. With particularly high demand for teachers in Asia, especially Thailand, Vietnam, and parts of China, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t give it a shot as a way to fund your Vietnam’s adventures!

Even though it may take longer for you to get a job teaching English if it isn’t your mother tongue, if you can speak good enough English then there won’t be any reason why you couldn’t land an employment opportunity.

In order to start teaching abroad, you’ll first need to complete an online TEFL course. Some countries require a college diploma for work visa applications, so if you don’t already hold one, you may want to consider taking up a postgraduate program as well.

3- Earn money online with content creation

Content is one of the most important assets of any company that has an online presence. A brand must have high-quality content to create a loyal following and keep them engaged.

If you’re any good at writing, you can use it as a new way of making money online by generating content on demand for clients. Content creation can not only be performed online, it can be done while travelling through Vietnam! Being a content writer allows you to sell your knowledge or experience in different spheres like health, fitness, interior designing, etc., while you fund your trips in a fun, easy way.

4- Fund your nomadic lifestyle with trading

If you think being a trader and travelling are somehow mutually exclusive, think again! Some people travel and trade for a living, and enjoy the freedom their skills give them to explore remote places such as Vietnam.

Think about it: you can buy and sell stocks from any location where there’s an Internet connection or a smartphone. In fact, you just need to go to Instagram and see the thousands of people who trade using their cell phones from all corners of the world!

If you know nothing about trading, you’ll be happy to know that you can get started easily. Disciplines such as crypto, margin trading or Forex are easy to get into and can really help you fund a nomadic lifestyle, if that’s what you truly want.
