Le Méridien Saigon Hotel joined millions around the world for Earth Hour 2017 – the global environmental awareness event created by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to send a powerful global message about climate change that already had noticeable effects on the environment.
In 2017, inspired by “Spark in the Dark” theme, the event took place on 25 March at 20:30 local time. Le Méridien Saigon switched off lights and took several energy-saving measures for one full hour. Participants joined the quaint event from 19:30 with lantern making competition while enjoying the Signature Sparkling Cocktail and listening to a traditional music performance in the illuminated dim light of Latitude 10 Lounge + Bar.
Mr. Robert Conte, Hotel Manager of Le Meridien Saigon said: “We are committed to any activity that celebrates our Mother Earth. As I believe in the saying – we don’t inherit the world from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”
About Earth Hour
Earth Hour was born in Sydney, Australia, in 2007, as an idea that could unite people and deliver a firm message to the then climate-sceptic government that climate change was an issue Australians cared about. The hour was seen as a moment where people could unite to protect the planet regardless of age, gender, culture or religion.
Over the last 10 years, Earth Hour has proven its massive environmental impact on millions of people, businesses, and organizations around the globe. Earth Hour 2017 took place on Saturday, 25 March 2017 at 20:30 (local time).
