ISHCMC’s Class of 2016 Sets New Highest Average IB Diploma Score and Individual Subject Scores for ISHCMC
International School Ho Chi Minh City (ISHCMC) has cause to celebrate with outstanding results in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB DP) examinations. The Graduating Class of 2016 has set two new records for ISHCMC, a new highest average IB Diploma score and the highest average for Individual Subject score.
In addition to these resounding records, more than half of ISHCMC’s Class of 2016 received the prestigious IB Bilingual Diploma, upholding the school’s reputation as a truly international school. In this year’s graduating class alone, 19 nationalities were represented in a cohort of 60 students. The IB Bilingual Diploma is not only a testament to the exceptional international learning environment that students receive at ISHCMC, but also helps prepare them for future success as global citizens.
Outstanding academic results combined with a rigorous and all-rounded education lead ISHCMC graduates to acceptance to top tier universities in all four corners of the world. This year’s graduating class received over 90 university offers to leading universities and colleges such as New York University, Seoul National University, University of Melbourne University College London, and UCLA, Berkeley.
“It is fantastic that this year’s class have surpassed expectations and set new records at ISHCMC especially as all students have access to the IB DP. Many of these students studied the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) with us, what we and the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) are seeing is that students that study the MYP then go on to excel in their Diploma (DP) studies. Both the PYP and MYP equip students with the necessary skill sets to thrive in the IB Diploma and IB Courses. This is what sets ISHCMC apart, we are the first IB World School in Ho Chi Minh City with the longest history of graduating students with their DP. For a student studying a national curriculum, it can become a challenge to then have to switch to the DP at these crucial high school years”, says Janelle Codrington, IB DP Coordinator.
Adrian Watts, Head of School further explains this success, “This is a tremendous success and is really testament to the hard work of the students and teachers. I am confident that given an excellent foundation in both approaches to learning and academic knowledge the Class of 2016 will continue to flourish and grow as learners as they enter the next phase of their education not least for their outstanding IB results. At ISHCMC students receive a broad and balanced education that promotes learning through inquiry, exploration of concepts, creative problem solving and collaboration. We look forward to further building on last year’s outstanding academic year of innovation and positivity at ISHCMC.”
